Common active detection systems use an emitter that generates signals such as infrared or ultrasonic signals, which are reflected back to a receiver. Intersan's detection system is passive: no signals are emitted. The system is waiting in a quiescent state until the sensor detects a human hand in its broad detection area.
Intersan utillizes optical lenses to delineate the expanded detection field of the passive systems in terms of width, lenght and height. The detection field is self-adjusting in that it adapts itself to the contours of the plumbing fixture. The result is a broad user-friendly detection area, ideal for use by people with disabilities as well. In addition, the precision design of the detection field prevents possible activation by passers-by.
- Mini-Cycle
Water flows for a minimum of 5 seconds and for a maximum of 30 seconds. This specific cycle offers maximum water conservation.
- Maxi-Cycle
Water flows for at least 8 seconds, and the valve remains open as long as the user is washing hands. This cycle offers maximum user convenience.
In order to avoid abuse, an interval of 2 seconds is programmed after each cycle, this prevents the excessive use of water.
Hands-free water and soap operation
Through the hands-free operation of water and soap, users no longer have to worry about the risk of infections and the spread of germs that may arise from contact with the fixtures.
Maximum water-savings
Electronic hands-free water supply systems are water-conserving in design and fonction.
Through precise micro-processor control, and through the use of accurate flow regulators, both the duration and the volume of the water flow are controlled. This offers maximum water-savings without sacrificing user convenience.
To offer a consistent system for these widely diverging applications, the Sanispray® electronic washfountains come in three versions: Maxi-Spray, Mini-Spray and Hi-Traffic.
One Trade Installation: easy and economical
For rapid and flexible installation of supplies and drains, all Sanispray® washfountains can be equipped with stainless steel flexible supply lines, stop ball valves with integral strainers and a flexible drain. All electronic components are pre-assembled.
In the standard model, the lithium batteries serve as the only power source thus limiting installation to only the plubming contractor.
The washfountain uses a passive detection system with latching solenoid valves, this system uses considerable less energy than active detection systems. Throughout the years, experience in the field shows that a 10.8 V battery can power the washfountain and deliver enough energy for up to 384,000 water cycles
Operation
When a user places his or her hands underneath one of the individual nozzles, the water flows for at least 8 seconds and for as long as required. Only when the sensor detects the withdrawal of the hands for a period of time, the Master Control Unit will initiate a signal to cease the waer flow. As each individual nozzle has its own sensor, solenoid valve and timing device system, it functions independently from all the other sensors, valves and timers connected to the Master Control Unit.
Option - No-touch Maxi-Spray Soap Dispenser
Its objective is to give the user soap whenever required. To accomplish this, a separate soap dispensing system has been set up with its own sensors, solenoid valves, etc.
Maximum Water Savings: flow rate 0.5 GPM per nozzle
Optimal user convenience, particularly designed for thorough washing of hands
Maximum hygiene
Vandal-resistant, sturdy construction
Optimal barrier-free control for disabled users
Easy maintenance through the continuous washing away of soap and dirt residues, both during handwashing and shortly after. Combined with the self-draining parabolic shape of the bowl, a hygienic sanitary appearance is maintaines
Standard cleaning function: for easy cleaning and drying, the washfountain is placed in a mode where all valves remain closed for a period of 2 minutes
Applications - Examples of potential applications are:
The Food Processing Industry
Dairy Plants
Chemical Industry
Electronics Manufacturing
Pharmaceutical industry
This list is not exhaustive, any application requiring thorough and hygienical handwashing is an ideal candidate for Maxi-Spray electronic washfountains.
Operational room model: special semi-circular wall-hung models for surgeons are available |

Operation
As soon as a user presents his or her hands under one of the individual nozzles, the water starts flowing. Water flows for a minimum of 5 seconds and for a maximum of 30 seconds. An interval of 2 seconds is programmed between 2 cycles. Each individual nozzle has its own sensor, solenoid valve and timing device system and thus functions independently from all other sensors, valves and timers connected to the Master Control Unit.
Characteristics
- Important Water Conserving Features
- Maximal water-savings: water only flows when required. Flow rate 0.5 GPM per nozzle
- Prevents water waste: water flows for a maximum period of thirty seconds. After this, an interval of two seconds of no water flow encourages the user to leave
- Increased user convenience - Optimal barrier-free operation
- The broad three-dimensional detection field and the five seconds minimal period of water flow not only allow the user to soap his or her hands in a convenient way before washing, but ensures the easiest possible operation for people with disabilities
- Maximum hygiene
- Standard Cleaning Function: for easy cleaning and drying, the washfountain is placed in a mode where all valves remain closed for a period of 2 minutes
Option - No-touch liquid soap dispenser
This system is hygienic, economic, simple and yet fully efficient: before the water starts flowing, the user 'automatically' gets a shot of liquid soap. Each user has a water nozzle and a soap outlet.
Applications - The MINI-SPRAY electronic washfountains were primarily developed for places where water conservation is a key issue and/or places where risk of water/soap waste or vandalism is important.

Supplies and/or vent from above

The Sanispray contributes to meeting LEED requirements in the following categories:
- WEp1 - Water Efficiency
- WEc3 - Water Use Reduction
Each nozzle has a flow rate of 0.5 gpm.
The water will flow as long as the hands are under the sensor with a maximum of 30 seconds.
The electronic soap dispenser option works on the existing water pressure and doesn't require any outside power.
The scuff base, bowl, riser column, drain pan, water and/or soap distribution head, sprayring are made of stainless steel. Stainless Steel is 100 % recyclable.
